I check this cam every summer with one hope - One-eye survived another winter. Like clockwork he will show up en route to where ever he spends the rest of the summer. And in the fall he will be back where we have rut cameras set. I've posted pictures of him back to 2016. It was that fall he lost his left eye in a fight. Never a daytime picture and after endless hours of burning boot leather searching for him I was sure no one would ever set eyes on him. I was wrong and in the peak of the rut last year he finally made a mistake. My buddy saw him trailing a doe in an open area. Great to see he made it through another winter. I think he's probably 9 now, has lost his wide frame from a few year back, but still looking like he will sport a decent rack by the end of summer and could have a few more years ahead of him. Hope to see him back hard horned this fall.

he is in this old post back in 2016. he is the "smaller" of the two bucks pictured. Unfortunately the larger buck disappeared a few years back.

You are right -- experts say antlers get smaller and simpler with old age. It's rewarding to get to know your critters.

Great record keeping stone, he's definitely earned his right to breed.
