That's pretty neat! I wonder if they are supposed to represent his feathers? Hope you post more footage if you get it.

Not sure, but the Satin Bower Bird collects blue, the Regent Bower Bird collects yellow & the Northern Bower Bird collects white.
Where l live in Victoria down southern Australia we only have Satin. I do have a lot more video. When you find a bower it is usually decades old as bowers are taken over by the strongest male bird. I have lived at my ranch for 30 years and am in the bush every day and I have only ever found one bower (not this one). To saythey are hard to find is an understatement. I initially thought I would find a lot because we have a very high population of them here in Winter.

That's really interesting to know, I wonder why they all collect certain colours like that :hmmm

Fascinating creatures. I love the wonderful racket they make too.

I just came across this image. It was taken about 2,500 klms north of where l live on a million arce cattle station. I was on a pig hunt up there a few years ago. The bower was in the absolute middle of nowhere the owner is a Northern Bower Bird he could not find anything man made that was white so he collected bleached land snail shells and white rocks. I found this fascinating. Also the bower was around double the size of his southern cousins.
